04/09 Athens

After traveling 24 hours 38 000m above sea level, waiting in the heated second hand smoke in Abu Dhabi airport and devouring less then impressive airplane food we were finally in Athens.

Firstly, no one in customs cares that you're entering their country nor do they check that the person in your passport photo is in fact you, you're not allowed to flush toilet paper and it's almost a crime to drink tap water but not a crime to drive at any speed you want.

Differences behind, Athens is actually uniquely beautiful and so culturally different to what I was imagining.

We checked into our hostel, Athens Style and were greeted by teens everywhere wearing Red Hot Chili Peppers band tees and blaring old pre 90's classics. There was a poster hanging in the lobby advertising a gig and we soon discovered that the chili peppers were playing 20 mins away from our hostel that night!!

2 hours later imagine us, in Athens in the Olympic Stadium with 20 000 other patrons ready to rock out to classics, what a way to start our adventure

Next stop - Paradise Beach, Mykonos!
